Cats Firmly On The Bubble

After two consecutive losses to South Carolina and LSU the Kentucky Wildcats have found themselves firmly on the bubble with work left to do to make the NCAA tournament. The key game for the Wildcats will come Sunday as they head to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators in a game in which the loser very well might have to make a deep run in the SEC tournament to make the field of 65.

Kentucky looked like a team that at times could be very dangerous as they jumped out to a 10 point lead in the second half only to see it slip away in the final minutes as LSU hit a three with just under ten seconds remaining to give LSU a 3 point win. For the first time in a while I felt as if Billy G coached a great game, he made adjustments, pulled players out of the game who weren’t playing well and overall put the team in a great position to win.

These next two weeks are as important as ever with out consecutive tourney appearances on the line which team will show up will it be the team that looked lifeless and incompetent in a beatdown to South Carolina or will it be the team that man handled Tennessee just a little over a week ago. I look for this team to come out hungry and play their best basketball of the year. I fully believe that this team can be very dangerous and given the right draw in the SEC tournament I fully believe everything finally comes together and this team wins the SEC tournament and makes a run into the second weekend of the NCAA tournament. Maybe it is the eternal optimist in me, but while Saturday’s loss hurt I saw so many positive signs that make me believe that this team will do what it takes to make the tournament and make a deep run into it.

I will have another post up either later tonight or tomorrow. Have a great day
