Cats Seek Revenge On LSU

After a 13 point win in the first round over Ole Miss Kentucky will now set it’s sights on the LSU Tigers who come in as the regular season champion and the only team in the league ranked. Kentucky watched a ten point lead disappear as LSU came back and won on a late three back in February. The stakes were high for that game, but no where even close to where they will be tomorrow, UK knows that this is a must win game and I look for UK to come flying out of the gates and get things going very quickly early on tomorrow.

I saw a lot of things today that leave me with a good feeling about the game tomorrow. Kentucky for the first time all year got a balanced attack on offense with four players scoring in double digits. Ole Miss threw a 2-3 zone at the Cats almost all game and the Cats attacked the zone all day, Miller took advantage of the zone hitting jump shots at the free throw stripe on a couple occasions. Kentucky did a great job at limiting Ole Miss second chances on offense which is something that they have struggled with a all season long. Maybe the best sign of all though today was how well the Cats took care of the ball, all year long this team has been plagued with the turnover bug and it has cost them plenty of games, but today they only committed 10 turnovers and overall were very smart with the ball. If UK is to make this run through the tournament it has to take care of the ball, they can not expect to turn the ball over 18-20 times tomorrow and win.

My prediction for tomorrow is UK comes out swinging early and keeps the foot on the gas all day long, maybe I am cray, but this team today looked like a new team to me they looked relaxed and like they were having fun which is something we did not see the last 2 weeks of the season. This team knows what they have to do and I think nothing is going to stop them. I think Meeks gets hot from deep tomorrow, Patterson has another double double and I look for the continued excellent play of Miller and Stevenson with a surprise player stepping up tomorrow, maybe Porter, Harris, or maybe Galloway and for UK to pick up a big win. No matter what happens it should be a fun game.

I will have more posts up tomorrow about the game, also I hope you were able to watch this Syracuse Connecticut game as it has been one of the best games I have seen in a long time.

I will have more posts
